Quotable: Bernard Hopkins On White Boys
Philly's own Bernard Hopkins, who isn't retired at the moment, has a fight on April 19th against Joe Calzaghe. Mr. Calzaghe is of Caucasian decent. B-Hop had this to say:
"I would never let a white boy beat me. I couldn't go back to the projects if I let a white boy beat me."
Calzaghe said Hopkins comments were stupid. Yep.

Big surprise. A guy from the projects of Philly (and former prisoner) doesn't want a white guy to beat him, because of the embarrassment he'd suffer. Whup-de-dooo.... You could say the same for any black NBA player: I'm sure most would rather get posterized by KG than Irk Nowitski. Everyone I know that's run into B-Hop has described him as a gentleman. I'm proud to have his autograph on my wall, and don't consider this jibber jabba racist.
This is just the trash talk boxers commonly employ to drum up interest in a fight. Mike Tyson was the master, in part because you never felt like he was in control of it all.
