Phillies Day Game Thread: The Mets Series Is Finally Upon Us
We're about 10 minutes from the first pitch in what's looking to be an epic season-long battle between the Phillies and Mets in '08. Although we're pretty excited to see this thing get underway, we would have gladly waited for a night game at this point. Four day games in a row is a bit much, and we want to witness the storming of Shea via moving pictures, not just the radio and the dots on Yahoo's gamecast.
Jamie Moyer takes the hill against lefty Oliver Perez, who threw 8 Ks in 6 shutout innings to win his first start this year. However, Johan Santana he is not, and the Phils have had pretty good luck against him in previous outings.

Matt, you gotta spring for mlb.tv, it's the only thing getting me through these day games. And it kills your work production to an even more staggering degree.

Posted by: sean | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 01:14 PM

Jayson werth, good job getting doubled up by not paying attention.
Posted by: Paul | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 01:36 PM
That's twice this douchebag Perez hit Utley in this game.
David Wright must pay.
Posted by: johndewar | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 01:59 PM
Stop plunking Chutley!! That's twice now! Cut it out!
Posted by: Clare | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:00 PM
Clare,
Your blog's name is being well-publicized today, isn't it?
Don't worry, "Man or Machine" will avenge him!

Who's got it!!?
Posted by: Walklett | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:09 PM
I'm all for plunking the Mets, just not with a 55mph Jamie Moyer fastball.
Posted by: John | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:12 PM
Signs of spring:
Daffodils bloom
Birds migrate north
The Mets play the goddamn Cha-Cha Slide after every pitch
Posted by: Clare | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:13 PM
Moyer is getting raped by this umpire on balls and strike calls
Posted by: mike | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:19 PM
Ok, everybody can breathe now. Now let's score some runs...
Posted by: Walklett | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:23 PM
Victorino needs to take a seat until he learns that he CAN NOT pop the ball up anymore.
F*CK

Posted by: db | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:41 PM
Well, he just redeemed himself by robbing carlos beltran of at least a double to end the inning.
Posted by: Paul | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:43 PM
OK, sixth inning, down by 2, Utley-Howard-Burrell due up. This is it, guys. Come on!
Posted by: Chamomiles Davis | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 02:43 PM
Howard BETTER get a fucking hit here. Preferably a homer. Thank you.
Posted by: meech.one | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:22 PM
WTF?!? Chutley with THREE HBP's today? What, is he laying across home plate or something?
Posted by: Chamomiles Davis | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:23 PM

Posted by: John | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:23 PM

Posted by: meech.one | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:23 PM
Chase got plunked again running the bases. That makes four.
Posted by: Walklett | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:24 PM
Posted by: db | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:26 PM
My name is Chase Utley and I like to have balls all over my body. oh wait, that didn't come out right.
Posted by: timm | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:30 PM
YEAHHH!!!! Werth to right field. 3-2, Phils!
/screw work
Posted by: Chamomiles Davis | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 03:33 PM
The Phils need to make a statement about this nonsense. Wright leads off next inning. Gordon better take the necessary steps, even if it means a suspension.

I dont care what anyone says, obviously we are way more committed as fans than the mets fans. I mean come on, a write in...we beat out Bon Jovi??
Posted by: Ben | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 04:10 PM
Why is JRoll NOT at SS? Anyone know? Gamecast is showing Bruntlett.
Posted by: johndewar | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 04:12 PM
he left the game with an apparent leg/ankle injury from sliding back into second base. He was able to run home from second? could have been third. lets hope its not serious
Posted by: Matt Devlin | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 04:15 PM
Zo is saying he looked liked something happened on the pick off throw at 2nd.
Posted by: timm | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 04:16 PM
its nice that the names get screwed up in here
Posted by: Matt Devlin | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 04:16 PM
JRoll has a sprained left ankle. put him the hypoberic chamber all night, he should be fine...or not for a couple days.
Posted by: Ben | Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at 04:21 PM

I believe that would make nine straight wins over the Metropolitans. I wonder what they're saying in that club house today!
