Flyers-Habs Game 4 Thread
Despite being badly outshot on Monday, the Flyers won a battle with Montreal on Philadelphia ice to go up 2-1 in the series. Rookie phenom goalie Carey Price was chased from the net, and Guy Carbonneau will reportedly use Jaroslav Halak in tonight's game.
The building was electric on Monday, and tonight will be no different. Hopefully the refs will call it even, and let the boys play. The physical game definitely favors Philadelphia, but the Flyers haven't had much trouble scoring either. Watch out for the Canadiens fans in their winter hats and Speedos. To erase that picture from your mind, follow us after the jump.

Games on Comcast right?
Posted by: Mike L. | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 06:40 PM
Yes, CSN. It's also on VS but I'd rather kill myself then listen to that Crapitals announcer again. I think all the rest of the games are on CSN in this series (hopefully only 2 more games, right?).
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 06:46 PM
Yes. Thank god. Versucks is so bad. And i cant seem to get it in HD. This should be interesting with Halak in goal. GO FLYERS!
Posted by: Mike L. | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:01 PM
I can't believe they are starting Halak. Rumor has it Price may have an injured hand, thanks to Umberger's swat/goal in Game 3. No matter what the cause, they should shoot their hearts out at this guy who played only about 6 games this year.
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:05 PM
wow more crappy calls by the refs. Also anyone know if they played kate smith tonight?
Posted by: themajor | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:19 PM
And... the night's first soft penalty against the Flyers.
Thank you, refs. You're a bunch of jerks.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:19 PM
I'm stuck watching Versus. I'm sick of hearing about this stupid goalie already.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:20 PM
Philadelphia - Pittsburgh series would be crazy. 3-1 tonight makes that likely.
Posted by: PhillyFanintheBurgh | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:23 PM
SCREW JOB AGAIN!!!!
Posted by: Bryan | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:31 PM
OH... FOR... FUCKS... SAKE...
HOW ABOUT THE HABS FUCKER THAT WAS UP IN BIRON'S BUSINESS AFTER THE WHISTLE!!!!
You stupid zebra bastards!
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:32 PM
I just don't get it? How can they call all this shit...good kill, hopefully this brings them together more...Us vs. the NHL
Posted by: MS | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:34 PM
Yea wow. I've been pissed about the calls all series but im not a big conspiracy guy. But after those two; you have got to be shitting me refs.
Posted by: Mike L. | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:37 PM
They seriously just did that? They called a penatly on defending the goalie after a cheap shot? Something that happens all game, every game, by every team, for like, what...forever?
...and Downie gets roughing AND tripping in game 3. You know, the guy who got taken on by two Canadiens at once, facewashing and punching him in the head, somehow gets called for roughing while taking that unnecessary and belligerent retaliation. Montreal power play.
Tonight? (see above)
I just want to ignore the officiating, and concentrate on watching my Flyers win, but come on. Just go out and win no matter what. That'll stick it to them you know where.
Posted by: Benjamin | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 07:53 PM
Wow, I didn't know the Habs' asst. coach was Gary Busey.
Posted by: El RIcko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:04 PM
The VS. announcers talk about Cristobal Huet as much as they talk about the two goaltenders who are playing. They are awful. They clearly are biased, towards Montreal, as well as the Capitals. They should not be allowed to cover hockey, especially a game featuring the team who just knocked their team out of the postseason. My ears hurt. I'm pressing the mute button now, and turning up the volume of the Phils on MLB.tv.
Posted by: Adam | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:08 PM
Wow. . . just wow. I am stunned. I cannot believe these calls. I'm not a believer in the conspiracy theories, but I'm starting to reconsider. Fun facts for the series so far MTL has enjoyed 49 minutes of powerplay time and scored four times. That means they have only scored thrice in the series on the 5 on 5 (1 shorty). The Flyers have been able to score seven times even strength. Despite the overwhelming amount of penalties, I think the stats favor (knock on wood) us.

I CAN HAZ UMBERGER!!!
(Sorry. Again.)
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:17 PM
Awesome shot by RJ!
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:17 PM
Did the Vs. announcers just refer to Umberger playing in 3 states: Ohio, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia?
Posted by: PhillyFanintheBurgh | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:19 PM
Where was the damn penalty?
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:19 PM
A lot of hair loss and ED commercials on Vs. Kind of disturbing.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:24 PM
Good job showing the hook VS then criticizing the philly fans for being biased.
Posted by: Pete | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:33 PM
haha VS here has UFC or something like it. Thank god for CSN. FYI the announcers for UFC on VS' suck too.
Posted by: themajor | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:39 PM
BIIIIIIIIRON BIIIIIIIIRON
Posted by: Gep | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:44 PM
God I love those WG commercials with Mike Richards. "Everybody deserves their first choice..."
But seriously Flyers defense get your shit together. Hatcher looks washed up and everybody is just standing around watching Biron win the game for them. Please God everyone play great defense so we can close this out. Also, if I turned out to be sterile I'd let Scottie Upshall impregnate my wife.
Posted by: Douglas | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:45 PM
Seriously. Coatsey!! I LOVE YOU MAN!
...not really, like that, no, not like there's anything wrong with that, but I am glad to be getting my Flyers feed from CSN.
Listening to Vs. last two games nearly ruined playoff hockey. This boob makes Billy Packer look like Walter Cronkite.
Posted by: Benjamin | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:47 PM
so how about the phillies going green? wait theres a game going on across the street?
Posted by: themajor | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:53 PM
And the zebras miss the trip in front of the Montreal bench. Thanks, guys.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 08:57 PM
$20 says we never get a replay of this "penalty."
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:01 PM
YES!!!! FLYERS GOAL, SCOTT HARTNELL!!!!!!1
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:05 PM
Scottie Hartnell makes it 2-0. Hold on Flyers fans.
Posted by: Pete | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:05 PM
2-0 Scottie! Alright, lets close it down and finish these guys. They haven't led 1 second this whole series.
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:06 PM
Biron is a machine
Posted by: Mike L. | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:07 PM
Holy crap, the announcer finally mentions how someone might be upset at the refs. Only he's talking about Guy Carbonneau, being upset about the Montreal penalty.
Unbe-frickin-lievable.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:10 PM
Weird, when I turn to Vs., all I get is a message that reads, "Tonight's game can be viewed only on your local regional cable sports network. Normal programming will resume upon conclusion of the game." Sure enough, it's on Comcast.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you. JJ > Vs.
Posted by: Nixorbo | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:15 PM
Fucking knee-to-knee on RJ. Dick move. And surprise, no penalty.
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:18 PM
2 goal lead gone once again..this is getting old. Both bad deflections off defenders
Posted by: Tom | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:26 PM
Only time I ever watched a sport where I hate my team having a 2 goal lead. Why is it such a curse?!?!?!!
Posted by: castor&cottman | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:26 PM
oh thank god goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: themajor | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:27 PM
Thank god for that stupid penalty by Montreal and Danny Briere kicking ass.
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:27 PM
I hate these last few seconds. Damn you clock.
Posted by: Pete | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Finish these pseudo-1-seeds on Saturday.
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:35 PM
F the F'ing French. GO FLYERS!
Posted by: Greg | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Outplayed them, out worked them, officiating was fair (1st and 2nd period both teams got lame calls, but the 3rd were all the right calls), and it wasn't Price's fault, nor did I hear to many posts for Biron (who was still out of his mind), so I don't want to hear the Habs fans crying tonight. They got beat up and down, and it was awesome.
Posted by: Benjamin | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:41 PM
stuck watching the vs. telecast.
what was that last penalty aboot? the announcers mentioned there was a penalty, but never showed the replay.
any chance we can get some JJ feeds, enrico?
Posted by: jd | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:41 PM
I agree jd, I am stuck in Syracuse where it snowed this morning. Please give the out of town fans some JJ. We deserve it after being forced to listen to the VS. telecast.
Posted by: Adam | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:52 PM
jd-Kapanen got drilled over by the bench way after the play by i think Begin. Really stupid penalty by the Habs and im glad they took it. way to go danny!
Posted by: Mike L. | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 09:53 PM
My favorite article so far: Slam.ca (Canada's homer site) says the Begin penalty on Sami Kapanen was "a borderline interference call".
Posted by: MSM | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Finish series on Saturday! Go Flyers!
Posted by: Bryan | Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 10:13 PM
The Flyers deserved to score on that last call. He was so close from being checked into the corner of the open door, and well away from the puck.
It was fitting that Umberger got the empty netter. He has been amazing this series. Simply Amazing.
Marty Biron. That's all I need to say.
