Day Game Thread: Old Man Moyer Vs. Brewers Youth Club
The Phils look for a split in their two-game series with the Brew Crew in Milli-Wauk-Ee (which is Algonquin for "the Good Land"), with Jamie Moyer (1-1, 4.79 ERA, 1.69 WHIP) going up against Jeff Suppan (1-0, 4.12, 1.29). Moyer's toughest task will be keeping the Brewers in the park, something that gave Cole Hamels trouble in the first and eight innings last night. Prince Fielder, who hit 50 homers last season, then became a vegetarian in the off-season, had only one dinger before meeting the Phils, and now he's bumped his total up to three. Glad we could help ya out there, brontosaurus.
Of course, Suppan will have his hands full as well. Chase Utley continues to shred NL pitchers, homering again last night. Chase leads the majors with 10 homers, and he has pretty good career numbers against Suppan. It'd be nice to see Ryan Howard go a game without a K, or at least take one yard today. (Update: Or not. Howard's riding the pine this afternoon, with Greg Dobbs starting at first.) Hopefully Pat Burrell's hot streak will earn Howard a few more pitches.
Jimmy Rollins is scheduled to take some BP, which may be a sign that reports of his ankle injury were bunk.

I'm Hearing no RyHo in the lineup today or tomorrow...Dobbs starts at 1st...how long can this go on

Dobbs has a pretty hot bat right now, I don't think it will hurt to have Howard sit for a while. I would have considered puting him on the DL for a while if Rollins were coming back, but that is unlikely and we are spread thin as it is. I would have put Feliz in the cleanup spot for this game though.

Brontosaurus? That's all ya got?

You know what RyHo needs? Another vacation. When do we get some RyHo Bobblehead pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower? Do your part guys!

@Kulp: Thank you. Someone needed to say that. I had something a little meatier in there, but I took it out for fear of vegan rage.
@Dan: Rumor has it RyHo may see the far east this year. Both Enrico and I will be heading to different Asian destinations, so anything's possible. August may be too late though.

I am not sure RyHo has earned the vaca.
Maybe you should dig up your Pat the Bat bobblehead and show him a good time. Once he gets married, that's the end of it.

Pat will never stop urinating in random chicks beds in Philly, even after he's married.
Nice job by Flash to get out of that inning!

Why not give Howard the day off if you say, hello, that you're giving him the day off. His head isn't in the game, and he has the day off because he needs the break.
I'm pretty certain a right handed bat on the bench could have struck out in that spot.
Man alive.

For the love of God, WHY DOES CHARLIE PINCH BURRELL OUT OF GAMES ALL THE TIME?!?
In the Mets series he did it late in the game WHEN BURRELL WAS ON FIRST AND THERE WAS A MAN ON SECOND. He wasn't even the lead runner! The man is a DOLT when it comes to in-game moves, regardless of whether or not this specific instance (or that specific instance) actually ends up biting him in the ass. The players love him, he seems like a good man and a hell of a batting coach, but his in-game moves are so often just absolutely baffling.

Also, wtf is with Howard pinch striking out? Give the guy the day off or don't. I just don't get Uncle Charlie.

Lidge is automatic. At least, until we play the Cards.

Utley killed us out there today. Seriously ... no home runs??? not even a single extra-base hit???

Lord, I hope Pat can keep up some semblance of this production throughout the season. History tells us he won't, but maybe this year will be different.

howard has 34 strike outs in 80 some at bats. he's on pace to break his 199 strikeouts from last year. someone needs to seriously rectify his approach at the plate. maybe uncle cholly benching him will do some good, who knows. i know the naysayers will claim his usual numbers will be up at the end of the year but this isn't good for a team that habitually starts out very slow in april.
yo ryan, cut down the strikeouts and maybe in 3 years the yankees will give you that 22mil/yr contract your agent's been asking for cause you ain't seein nothing close to it in philly. especially with a batting average barely over .150
