Jaws: Moss to Pats Deal 'Falling Apart'
As a guest on SR950's Jody MacDonald show, former Eagle and now ESPN analyst Ron Jawarsk says the deal the Patriots had in place for Randy Moss, "is falling apart." Jaws made it clear that as of 3:30 this afternoon, Randy Moss had not yet signed on the dotted line with the New England Patriots and the two sides may be arguing over numbers.
Jaws and Jody Mac are in Atlantic City for tonight's Maxwell Football Club Awards dinner. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick had committed to being at the dinner to receive their awards but later backed out. Could we see another reneging by the Patriots?
Jaws says the Eagles may not be out of the running just yet for Randy Moss. "I would not be surprised if Andy or somebody might be on the phone right now just trying to stir those coals a little bit to see if Randy Moss has any interest in coming to Philadelphia."
I ripped the audio of the interview from Red Lasso, after the jump.
This is about the most exciting Friday afternoon news I've heard in months.
UPDATE: PFT says Jaws is wrong here.

I'd still rather have Fitz. Or Moss and then also Roy Williams next year.
But this is the response I've seen.
"The deal is signed and on file with the league. Indeed, the salaries are posted on the NFLPA web site. Moss has signed the deal and is under contract with the New England Patriots through 2010."

I think this story was started for the sole purpose of rubbing salt in the wound of Philadelphia fans.
You almost had Moss.. Oh wait NO, you didn't get him! Oh wait, you might still have him... hahahaha just kidding!

Jaws would not toy around with Philly fans. Seriously, he would not say something like this unless there was merit to it.

Benjamin -
I'm not being entirely serious. But it does SEEM like our emotions are just being abused by this whole Randy Moss back-and-forth story.

Wow... if this were true, it would be incredible.
It isn't. End of story.

I like Jaws. I think he is a capable sports-media personality. Slightly above average ... more tolerable than most I come across.
However ... he is the absolute biggest Philadelphia 'homer' I have ever seen. He gives the Flyers broadcasters a run for their money.
Two seasons ago, during a Eagles pre-season game in which he was the color commentator ... he declared that Hank Baskett: "may be the biggest story in the NFL this season."

I haven't relied on "Jaws" expertise on anything since I took my car to a Cottman Transmission place because of a faulty "check engine light" and it cost me 700 smackers and the damn thing is still coming on!!! I took it back and those "backyard" mechanics just shrugged their shoulders and went, "I don't know ???". As far as his football knowledge, he never institutes a commentary, just plays off the other guy and then offers his "expert" opinion.

Jaws was certainly an improvement on Monday night football, but for god's sake, drop that Connecticut School of Broadcasting voice inflection. It's so grating on the ears.
