Because No One's Tired of the 12th Man Gimmick
The Nationals, wanting fans to feel all warm and cozy in the confines of the new stadium they're set to open this spring, are actually going to attempt to apply the "12th Man" theme made popular by Texas A&M and the Seattle Seahawks. So I guess Phillies players and fans should be intimidated by the menacing 10th man in DC, despite their not having even set foot in the new stadium yet, nor the Nats having finished higher than 4th since relocating from Puerto Rico Montreal.
Even the Mottrams disapprove.

I can't hate on the Nats, they are a pretty fun project to watch on the side, at least until they get to the point where they are a threat to the Phils. Looking forward to seeing a couple games in the new stadium though.

Typical of the Nationals. A Minor League philosophy in a Major League atmosphere. Has anybody ever heard of the "10th man" idea in baseball? It doesn't, or shouldn't exist in baseball. It makes more sense in football and basketball. Silly Nats.

This would be a great idea ... except for the fact that every-time you see a Nationals home game on TV, the stadium is more than 3/4 empty.

Unfortunately, Kevin, that's going to continue, because the way the seats were priced in the new Nationals Park, the best values by far are in the seats that never show up on camera - mezzanine and upper level seats behind the plate and the baselines. The prime dugout seats are all corporate-owned, and the outfield bleachers were all priced through the roof, at $30 and up.

This promotion is actually a ploy to see if there are 10 Nationals fans.

Any trips planned to head down there yet? Looks like that stadium isn't too bad.

Hating on the Nats is like hating on a retard.
At least you cant blame the Nats though for trying to get fans excited for the team though
