The Brad Lidge Era Limps Out of the Gate

Jim Salibury and Todd Zolecki bring this orange juicy tidbit from Clearwater this morning:

Closer Brad Lidge, the team's key offseason acquisition that allowed the Phillies to return Brett Myers to the rotation, limped off the field this morning after he caught his spike in the mound while throwing live batting practice on Ashburn Field at the Carpenter Complex.

The Phils say it's nothing serious, but any injury to this team's razor thin pitching staff is pretty The Ring-face serious to us.

And so another wonderful season of Phillies baseball begins...

For fuck's sake.

OY, the beginning of the end, before the beginning!

Well, if the Phils' brass says there's nothing to worry about, we should be fine...I mean, it's not like the same goddamn thing happened to our closer last year...oh, wait.

Can someone fire the Phillies' examining physician already? Who's doing the check-ups on these guys? Dr.'s Howard, Fine and Howard?
