Jimmy Rollins Says Chase Utley Gets No Style Points
Jimmy Rollins, who grew up idolizing Rickey Henderson in Oakland, admits he loves a little style to go along with his numbers. He mentions Big Papi, Manny, C.C. Sabathia, and Jose Reyes as other big leaguers who he thinks have their own things going on. One guy who Jimmy thinks needs a little help is his double play partner.
Someone asked Rollins if his DP mate Chase Utley shows any style, and Rollins said no, but that he's working with him. With a little work, Rollins said Utley could dream to become "the face of Tasty Cakes [sic]."
And they let this guy write for SI without spelling TastyKake properly. For shame.
I also think Jimmy is being a little harsh on 26. The man rocks the blazer with a collared shirt and a tee.
The choice quotes are from a fun Sports Illustrated piece by Jon Heyman. He takes a look at why Jimmy deserved the MVP last season. Stat geeks be damned. There's too much to quote it all, so go read it.
If Wright's offensive stats were slightly better than Rollins', and I will accept that they were, especially considering the respective ballparks they play in (VORP accounts for ballparks), shouldn't Rollins get points for playing a superb shortstop compared to Wright's slightly-above average third base? And shouldn't Rollins get credit for showing extraordinary initiative and leadership? For helping his team barrel into the playoffs from seven games back with 17 to go, as opposed to Wright's team, which perpetrated a historic choke?
Man, I can't wait for the MVP chants when Jimmy leads off on March 31st.

chase needs to ditch the "my hair permenately seems wet" look or get a deal with a hair care product company.

That blazer also appears to be velvet. If that ain't stylin' and profilin', I don't know what is.

I have an idea for a new section of this website.
It's called "The Dumbest/Unfunniest Comment Section."
What the section would contain is pretty simple, it's the dumbest/unfunniest comments of the week or month or even year, just like the title of the section suggests.
Give it some thought guys, I think it could work!
