Flyers Trade for Vaclav Prospal
Less than 24 hours before the NHL trade deadline, the Flyers have acquired Vaclav Prospal from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Flyers are showing that despite their recent struggles, they're not going to be sellers at the trade deadline, picking up a bona fide scorer (and former Flyer). Through 62 games, Prospal has 29 goals and 28 assists.
The Flyers sent Alexandre Picard and a 2009 conditional pick to Tampa Bay for Prospal.

Good trade with the injuries to Richards and Lupul. Still need some defensive help, especially with Modry going out in the 1st.

Is Prospal an FA or something, cause that seems like a steal (unless it's a 1st)

I remember when he broke his wrist wishing they had not traded him.... glad to have him back.

Yeah, he's a UFA. Well, hopefully we lock him up, and if not, doesn't seem like we really gave up a thing (and maybe tonight will turn the ship around a bit).

He's a rental...
that's why they got what they did...
but do you realize he becomes the flyers leading goal scorer... with this trade.
You must admit that the flyers scoring this season has been balanced. They are gonna finish out with mult. 20 goal scorers.
Also, I thought Prospal broke his ankle as well...?
WHAT A GREAT GAME.

this is a great move. glad they held on to all of the young guys on the big club so far. this should help us make the playoffs which is great because really this year is all about getting the young guys some playoff experience. with the cap going up this year, there's no reason we can't give vinny a 2 year deal.

TSN reporting it's a 2nd or 3rd rounder. This I can deal with.
Maybe we can turn around and trade Prospal for Alexander Daigle again now somehow??

Alexandre Daigle. The epitome of wasted talent, if you can even call it that.
If Clarke had done this trade, along with the draft pick we'd have given up Carter, Coburn and a 1st rounder.
I love Clarkie, but thank God for Holmgren.

I misseded you, Vinny, I misseded you.
Kinda wish we didn't have to give up Captain Picard for him, though.

the pick they gave up is a conditional pick, if the flyers make it to the conference finals they give tampa a 2nd round pick. if not they owe them no picks. a very nice trade by homer.
