The 700 Level in Today's Philly Inquirer
The700Level.com was featured in an article today in the Philadelphia Inquirer. (UPDATE: the Inquirer link no longer appears to work, you can read the text of the article here.) I sat down with the author, Will Hobson, to talk about Philly sports, the origins of this website, and many other random topics. It's a nice little article and I'd like to thank Will for asking us to sit down with him.
Perhaps my favorite parts of the article were the quotes used from some other Philly sports personalities. 610 WIP's Glen Macnow, one of the enjoyable Philly sports talk hosts, had this to say, "[Enrico] writes it with a sense of humor, and he covers the gamut of things. He finds interesting stories early." Also, A.J. Daulerio says we notice the nuances -- like him in a Tyrone Hill jersey.
Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think. If there was one thing I would clarify a bit it would be this quote, "I don't want to be the next legendary sports writer; I just want to be the next Sports Guy [Bill Simmons of espn.com, who came to fame as an Internet columnist], or Will Leitch." While I may have said that, it probably came out slightly wrong. I don't really want to be the next Simmons or Leitch. It's more of continuing down a similar path that they have lead the way in writing from a fans point of view and having fun with it all.

Very nice article and I enjoyed reading it. It's awesome that they gave you this opportunity. Bloggers get such a bad rap and it's cool that they gave you the space in the "validated media" to express your opinions and praise you for your success.

Wow, what a great compliment to this blog! But what a shame that they didn't give you a backlink ;)

Congrats, 700 Level.
The most revealing part of the article was found when I clicked on 'More Images' and the caption on the 2nd picture said,
"Proprietor of "The 700 Level" Philly sports blog Enrico Campitelli Jr. and his partner Matt Pesotski (right)."
Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Where can I get a "The Phillies are my favorite squadron" shirt?!
Glad to see some good press for the site!

meech.one, i thought the same thing. haha it says "partner" Enrico when did you and matt start dating?
Posted by: Sid | Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 10:59 AM
guys, it was a misprint. it was supposed to say "life partner."
in other news, I just finished Will Leitch's book "Catch" on my flight home last night. there is, I crap you not, a character named "AJ" from Philly who is another male character's lover.

I discovered this site the other day to see TO crying. I live in Atlanta now, but I have sat in the 700 level of Vets Stadium, the last time was during a rainy World Series Game in 1993....the Phillies lost by some insane score like 16 to 14. Oh well I'm used to it.

Great job 700level. My favorite sports site.
You get in the newspaper when you know how to use HTML frames, and go beyond photoshopping.
