Sheldon Brown Does Not Agree With Donovan McNabb
We first pointed you to Donovan McNabb's blog post in which he says the Eagles need to add some weapons this off season. I found this action to be refreshing and something that shows he's willing to step up, be a leader, and voice his opinion. Surely it's a sentiment shared by most Birds fans. Others interpreted the quarterback's wishes quite differently and Sheldon Brown simply disagreed.
Sheldon was a guest on Sunday night's Sports Final and seems very willing to speak his mind. I certainly don't agree with Brown, who seems to imply that McNabb was "throwing teammates under the bus." Perhaps Brown's lowest blow was when he says, in regards to the defense forcing turnovers, "Whats the point if the offense isn't going to do anything with them."
The full 9 minute interview video after the jump.
Howard Eskin and Sheldon Brown seem to be on team "we don't need to add playmakers, we have players who can make plays," while John Clark seems to actually get something right for once asserting that a good kick returner is indeed a playmaker.

I find it very ironic that Sheldon would disagree with McNabb on the premise that he is throwing teammates under the bus. But McNabb's statement about playmakers isn't nearly as harsh as Brown's comment that implies the offense is beyond help.
I like Sheldon Brown as a player, but I disagree with him on both counts here. I also disagree with Howard Eskin... why cant you give up a 1st rounder for Chad Johnson? If thats what it took, I would. The Eagles 1st rounder is very average anyways.

i had almost erased that play against the bears from my memory, but there here is # 37 with his head on a swivel.
howard eskin is strange looking.
i am sure if the eagles sign some stud offensive or defensive player brown isnt going to complain and he sorta contradicts himself anyway.

Eskin the wolfman is such a confrontational douchebag. He needs a code red with scissors and a razor.

To steal a phrase that D.L. Hughley stole from Dennis Miller regarding Don Imus...
Howard Eskin looks like a werewolf who only had the energy to get halfway through the transformation

Ummm, Sheldon... the offense can't score the ball because they don't have a big play-making wide receiver or tight end. How contradictory is it to say they don't need playmakers, then turn around and say the offense can't score anyway?
I'm glad everybody thinks so highly of Chad Johnson... he's nothing like T.O.

Maybe Sheldon is afraid because his never was and never will be a playmaker. He is an AVERAGE corner that makes average plays. I think I know the real reason he is making this comments. Two words.........Asante Samuel

Yeah dude, the real motivation behind those comments are not his true feelings; but rather Asante Samuel - a player on a different team in a different conference.
What the hell does that even mean ?

Great videos. I used them on my blog, and linked to this post. How do you sign up with Red Lasso?

With the last name Manning its no shock your missing a part of your brain and think you know everything. Will answered your question for me. And if that doesn't sum it up for you. The fact that Samuel is a free agent and is a corner means that if we sign him Sheldon would probably be number 3 on the depth chart. He would still see playing time but not as much. He could also be used in trade if we do pick up Samuel. I wouldn't mind using a loud mouth AVERAGE corner as part of a trade for some playmakers.

The chances of the Eagles signing Asante Samuel this offseason are about the same as them signing me.
Sheldon is a solid player, and hardly a "loudmouth." Do you ever hear Sheldon talking trash leading up to, or after a game? He answers the questions posed to him honestly. What's lost in amongst all the quotes people are freaking out over - is where Sheldon clearly says that he himself has to make more plays.

well I too think sheldon brown is contradicting himself here in this interview and I also support Mcnabbs comments and belive in them fully the time is now not 5 - 10 years from now we need to suceed now bringing in a playmaker no matter what side of the ball will surely make a positive addition to this team (DUH!!) and it seems to me that brown misinterpreted and took mcnabbs comments to heart for some reason

Yo! Forget about chad johnson or Asante Samuel. I want Larry Fitzgerald from Arizona or the other beast beside him. Asante Samuel is wack he is just in the right place at the right time. I rather have Nnamdi Asomugha because he's way taller then that gay ass patriot corner.
