Phillie Phanatic Named Best Mascot in Sports

But you already knew that... I was just thinking the other day how horrible most mascots are, and how great the Phanatic is. Via Philly.com, we learn that Forbes has named the Phanatic the #1 mascot in all sports.

Best Mascot in Sports, originally uploaded by MattP33.

Thoughts...

The Phanatic rules your face.
The Phoenix Gorilla got snubbed.
Mr. Met is gay, Piazza converted him.
Sourdough Sam is a dumb name.
Never heard of Rowdy or Rally.

Phlex of the Phantoms is also pretty awesome- seems like he's always at a lot of charity events. Or birthday parties.

Have to agree with the Phoenix Sun Gorilla snub. Kept looking down the list and he was nowhere to be seen.

Also, remember the Sixers' mascot in the mid-90s? Looked like a balding fat guy with rainbow hair. What was his name?

I think the old sixers mascot was "big shot". And he sucked.

Mr. Met is such a ridiculous mascot, I have no idea why he's on this list.

Speaking of "Big Shot", check out this picture:

Rally??????

It should be noted that Carl P. is a lifelong Braves fan, and even he is apparently unaware of their mascot. Some list.

that picture looks like a nice warm night down at the ballpark

baseball needs to start asap

funny line from Todd Zolecki:

I've been covering the Phillies for five years. That means I've been to Atlanta about 15 times and covered about 45 games at Turner Field. I swear to God I have never seen Rally until today, and he was darn near impossible to find on Google.

How about the Hawk? I know St. Joe's sports isn't well represented around here, but any mascot that can not stop flapping his wings or he loses his scholarship deserves mention.
