Shawn Andrews Makes a Jolly Santa

Here's a great clip from Comcast SportsNite featuring the Eagles Shawn Andrews and Omar Gaither going Christmas shopping with Leslie Guidel.  When they give the gifts to some families in need, the tears start flowing.  A nice gesture by the Big Kid and Omar.

Shawn Andrews is the man! Just an all-around great guy - the eagles were very lucky to lock him up to a long term deal.

Belichick called Andrews the "best guard [the Patriots] have faced this year". I own his authentic green #73 jersey. One of my favorite Eagles.

Uh, why are these kids getting Tony Hawk skating games and Bourne Ultimatum DVDs? Seems to me if they have a Playstation or Xbox or DVD players, then they aren't really families "in need".

Its really nice to see the Eagles involved in their community like this. We never saw this kind of community activism during the Leonard Tose/Norman Braman years with the exception of some isolated instances like Tose's Ronald McDonald house and Reggie White's various good will missions.

Hats off to Jeff Lurie for using the Eagles as a way to do good in the city of Philadelphia through player actions, the Eye-Mobile, the Book-Mobile, and various other things. Lurie stated he wanted the Eagles to play a positive role in the Philadelphia community in regards to charity and they certainly have done that. Lurie's messed up in other regards, but he gets my respect for his actions in this aspect.

I agree, it's awesome to see that not all of the athletes are 100% stuck on themself. As far as are these kids really "in need", maybe they're not as bad off as others, but seeing an athlete invest in a kid's Christmas, no matter how poor, is a rewarding site. It all could have gone to car #4, but it went to help other people.
