Westbrook Super, McNabb Not So Much
Perhaps my favorite article on the Eagles 17-7 victory over the Dolphins is Ashley Fox's piece titled, "Man and Superman, McNabb and Westbrook." In the early days of The 700 Level, I used to throw around the nickname "Super Five" with regularity. I believed in the dynamic duo of McNabb's arm teamed up with his legs. Those days seem like a thing of the past with McNabb again finding a spot on the sideline after banging up his ankle.
Westbrook on the other hand has done nothing but show up and play like a beast. Game in and game out, 36 West has dazzled. He did it again yesterday coming up just shy of a buck and a half.
Say what you will about this Eagles team. To me, in depth analysis is useless at this juncture. The Birds fit that press conference saying that coaches like to use so frequently. They are what they are. (17 point dogs to the Patriots next week.)
An assortment of random Extras, after the jump.
BC came up big in Death Valley and clinched a spot in the ACC title game. Atlanta Eagle makes a plea for students to head to Florida, no excuses, " 'I’m broke.' You are a college student. Of course you’re broke. But I imagine if you are like most college students you can always scrounge up a few bucks if you really want something. Beg, borrow, deal. Go to the blood bank. Sell your text books. Sell your roommate's text books! Whatever it takes. Credit card debt lasts forever but as the ads say, seeing BC battle for the ACC crown is priceless." [Atlanta Eagle]

The NFC is bizarre.

while the sixers found a way to come back from getting rocked at halftime vs. portland, temple went the other way in puerto rico on friday, losing to that basketball powerhouse, the college of charleston, after getting out to a huge first half lead. glad to see they got it together to beat marist, but i'm surprised and disappointed so far this season.

Any thoughts on the rumors McNabb could have returned to the game but was benched rather than hurt? Who lets the star quarterback STAND on the sidelines in full pads with a hurt ankle?

McNabb remained in pads because he could still play if Feeley got hurt. He didn't come back into the game because the conditions were not favorable for the knee.
One thing I agree with is trying to analyze this team is impossible. The talent is there, and they are clearly better than the bottom of the league, but you never know which team you're going to get.
And it's no wonder. Andy Reid doesn't care if his QB is recovering from injury, he doesn't care if it's raining and snowing and the ball is slick, he doesn't care how good Westbrook is, and he doesn't care if the other team plays with 6 defensive backs the entire game. Andy Reid is just going to throw the ball over the field and we're going to like it. McNabb didn't look good, but he was set up to fail.
As much as I'd love the Eagles to get some Super revenge next week, it's not going to happen. Anybody that hasn't had the chance to watch the Patriots this season, enjoy next week. They're easy to hate, but they easily have the best football team I've ever seen.

I don't like them but I agree the Patriots are a fun team to watch. I think the early line on that game is Pats by 17. If McNabb can't go I wouldn't be surprised to see a 20+ point spread.

17 point dogs now, but by game time at least 20, and that, my friends, is a "sucker" bet, because the Birds had a hard time with the "fins", and to think that they will get 17 points again, up there, against that team, no way. Don't bet the Birds this week, unless it's for amusement only!!
