Phillies Alternates: Nice Jersey, Not So Nice Hats
As mentioned yesterday, the Phillies unveiled their new alternative uniforms featuring old school styled jerseys along with blue hats. The jersey looks rather nice but the blue hat just isn't working right. What say you?
B&C has all the photos you could ever want of Jimmy Rollins and Cole Hamels on a runway.
Update: Sid points out a blue hat could work, "the problem isn't the blue hat, it's the blue hat mixed with the red bill. Not a fan of two tone hats."

the problem isn't the blue hat, it's the blue hat mixed with the red bill. not a fan of two tone hats. Enrico you should start a bring back the powder blue petition.

They're too plain and too white. Boring.
Then again I wanted powder blue...

powder blue would have been nice, a lot of things would have been nice compared to what we got

they need a jersey that says philadelphia across the front. time to mix it up a little like other teams. not very creative to just copy an old uniform. they're not bad. too bad they're that crappy cool base material. such a thin crappy material for $189. majestic has no right making uniforms.

I don't understand why both the Phillies & Eagles avoid using throwbacks from the 70s & 80s. Who in their right mind wouldn't rather have the Phils wearing some variation of the old maroon & white uniforms? Also, I know the Eagles were celebrating the 75th anniversary and wanted to harken back to the god-awful powder blue and yellow days that no fan was familiar with, but, come on, give me the kelly green uniforms if you're going to be "throwing back" to something. Hopefully, they'll break them out in the future.

hate the jerseys, what's wrong with the White with Red pinstripe and the Grey? The hat isn't that bad, although I agree that two tone hats are generally ugly, that's my main gripe with the interleague cap.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the uniform, or the hat for that matter, but I see what you are all saying. They could have done something different... the way teams change uniforms anymore, I wouldn't be surprised to see them take some of your suggestions in the next few years.

I don't care if they're pink with baby blue horizontal stripes! Put a freakin real 3rd baseman, right fielder and compitent bullpen in em' and I'll be happy!

The jersey they are wearing is not the same as the one pictured in the store. the store one has a blue piping around the team name, and the one they are wearing does not. blue piping makes a world of difference

DOESN"T ANYONE REMEMBER THE LAST TIME THEY TRIED BLUE HATS ON SUNDAYS? IT WAS A COMPLETE BUST IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT WE LOST EVERY GAME IN THEM. MAYBE JUST MAYBE WE WON ONE.

It's not the two-tone that kills the hats.
They're ugly in all blue too.
