ESPN's Sixers Preview and Us!
The whole world is picking the Sixers to stink this year. My prediction: they won't be THAT bad but yes, they will not be very good. ESPN.com asked us to contribute a tiny tidbit for their 2007-2008 season preview, check it out here.
But hey, look at the bright side, out of 10 people there was one, Ric Bucher, who didn't pick the Sixers to finish last in the Atlantic. He picked us to finish second to last!

Why does everyone seem to think the "second-half surge" last year was a mirage? I don't see their reasoning behind that. I think the old "teams took the 76ers easy because they didn't have AI" excuse is tired. We have a young group of guys who aren't good enough to keep around and let grow, BUT some of them will emerge as pieces to build WITH, not AROUND.
We need a PG beyond Andre Miller and Korver is definitely not good enough on D to be starting at SG. Thank God that's been put to bed.

Oh, and... everyone is right about our athleticism, but most "experts" (not ESPN's preview per se) seem to word it like that's a bad thing. Building a running team is a great idea to get fans in the door. If Iggy and Louis W. are on SportsCenter Top 10 a couple times a week that'll have a big impact on the energy of the organization.

I always liked that Bob Uecker guy, he was good in Major League.
Wait...what? Ric Bucher? Never heard of him.

I'm going to go on the record as saying not only are the Sixers not bad this year, I think they might actually be pretty good. I'll even go as far to say they might land the 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs.
I'm no basketball expert, but what I saw from the Sixers last year was a young team that honestly may only be a player away from being really competitive. Iguodala looks like a star, and Andre Miller is the perfect guy to help the young players develop.
You guys can trash me and call me an idiot, but I really think this team can play .500 ball.

Kulp,
On the contrary -- I hope you're right. I'd love to be proven wrong, but nothing about this team gives me that "you know, they just might sneak in this year" vibe.
If they do crap the bed again this year, I hope this would spell the end of the Billy King era in Philadelphia.

31 wins and I om ok with that. We have only to change coach and GM next summer, when with cap room, another high pick and a core of young players we can hopefully start a new era
I am patient and expecting absolutely nothing from this year will help me enjoy the season
