Down by the Banks of the River Charles (They are Celebrating)

Now that's the kind of thing that gives you goosebumps. After watching the Red Sox, who clearly were the best team in baseball this season, celebrating their second World Series Championship in the last four years I couldn't stop thinking about it. What would it be like to see Brett Myers throw his glove 100 feet into the air in an act of pure joy during the final game of the season? What would it be like to watch Ryan Howard smile from ear to ear, to see Chase Utley reach the ultimate goal, to see Jimmy's snaggletoothed smile, to see Pat Burrell vindicated? To see the Phillies become world champions.
That would be something. Maybe someday.
Congrats to Curt and Tito and Congratulations to the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox. The party from Dorchester to Faneuil Hall is still probably rocking this morning.
Oh, and hey Pat Gillick, you going to try and buck up for the World Series MVP, or what?

Yeah, it seems like the possibility of signing Lowell just got a lot harder- particularly with BoSox fans chanting "re-sign Lowell" after the game. But hey, A-Rod's on the market... (hahahahahahaha)

sox v phils...next october, baby! that would be sweet. all we need is two or three solid pitchers and we are right there. its hard to believe that the only interesting team in this town is the baseball team...cant wait till april!

Gillick did say the Phils wouldn't be competitive until 2008, didn't he?
Well, Pat, it's almost 2008. Let's see if you can convince the secret cabal to search their couches for loose change to sign Mike Lowell.

God, I hate the Red Sox, mostly because their fanbase is extremely annoying.
The Phillies are the only interesting team in town? Have you watched a Flyers game this season?

the flyers? they still play in this town?
i thought they finished the nhl a few years ago...weird.

You might want to hop on the Flyers bandwagon while you can because this team is something special. Yes it's only a few weeks into the season, but the team has gelled very well, very fast. Right now, the Flyers have the best chance of delivering a championship...until we all get our hopes up for the Phillies next season of course.
I also hate the Red Sox. I hate listening to fans of cities like Boston and Chicago whine and whine and whine. Until the BoSox won it in 2004 to break "The Curse" all they did was whine about their poor Red Sox and how they can't win. Yet the Patriots had won 2 Super Bowls and the Celtics won three championships in the 80's. Same with Chicago...their precious Cubbies haven't been in the World Series since 1908, granted that's a damn long time, but the Bulls won six championships in eight years in the 90's!
Well now Boston fans have two world series championships in four years, the Patriots have won three Super Bowls in this decade, and the Celtics have revamped to become arguably the favorite in the East. Never ever do I want to hear a whiny Boston fan, ever again.
ps - yes I am jealous that Boston has succeeded so much and I am not afraid to deny it. 24 years and counting for our franchises...now that's something to complain about.
