CounterPoint: Boo Whoever You Want
In this morning's Debriefing, MJD calls out Eagles fans for booing McNabb.
McNabb, like Brett Favre or Peyton Manning, has earned a "no boos as long he's still in the league" pass. I could list his accomplishments, his pro bowls, his stats, and cite the fact that the last time he had a decent receiver, he had the Eagles in the Super Bowl, but I doubt that will sway anyone.
Rubbish. If history has taught us anything, it's that you can boo anybody. Just because you boo McNabb on MNF after a poor showing doesn't mean you want him axed. Also, in my opinion, the boos aren't focused clearly at McNabb, but rather towards the Eagles team as a whole, including their coaches.
It's simply a sign of disappointment, to show that their performance is not up to par. We want better. We expect better.

when you look up "blogger" in the dictionary there is a picture of MDS (yeah that scary one).
does this guy sleep? eat? do anything that doesn't involve pushing "publish" or "post."

Low blow by the big K! that'll cost you a point.
Also, I was referring to the Mighty MJD, not MDS.
Both with M's and D's, but a J and an S different. Or something.

MJD is the man but this ranting on Philly phans has taken on a life of it's own. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Nothing is refreshed, it's the same old rehashed story. And Enrico is right, the boos weren't necessarily for McNabb but also for the franchise, the Coach/GM, the Mold standard as a whole.
Damn am I not looking forward to this Lions game on Sunday. Could be tailgating before a funeral. If Dawk and Lito are out then the Lions wideouts are going to have a field day.
At least I'll be able to do a Phillies chant at the game.
Go Phils!!

That guy is a douchebag, whoever the hell he is.
I wasn't at the game and I wasn't booing so what the hell do I know, but my sense wasn't that the booing was directed at McNabb specifically. It seemed to be more directed at a piss poor offense with piss poor play-calling, piss poor wire receivers, piss poor pass protection and piss poor execution.
If you can't boo that, well, you can't boo anything.

i cant spell, duh, and god knows i spend too much time on the internet as well, but that dude takes it to an entirely new level...
let me cast aside any questions about who the boo-ing was directed at - 90% MCNABB, 10% REID/PLAY CALLING. don't kid yourself.
also, by the 4th, loads and loads of "he can go home and smoke crack with his sons," and whatever variation you can come up with...loads and loads of that, at least in my section.

The more 0s in your contract the more Os in our boos for under performing. If you can't take it, go the Scott Rolen route and get out of town. This story is so played out. This is Philly, this is how we are, deal with it.

reading those comments angered me. I was already pissed off about last night I don't need some jackass telling how to show my passion. maybe he should get his head out of his ass and write about passion which is clearly something he is lacking

On a related note, did anyone catch SportsCenter directly after the game? This was the opening line from that cock-eyed douchebag, Stuart Scott..."The same fans that booed Santa Claus...blah, blah, blah"
LET IT GO! That was a thousand years ago. Did you hear we like to eat these delicious sandwiches called cheesesteaks too?
There were a few people left in the bar i was at for the game when Stewey delivered this gem and, no joke, everyone at the same time said 'oh my god, shut the fuck up already.'
Blow me national media. Boooooooooo!

Nice Godfather reference.

Give me a break. We can boo whoever the hell we want, especially a choke artist who thinks we're on his case because he's black and not because he can't hit an open man in the endzone. McPuke is a head case with a suburban black man complex. He doesn't have the mental fortitude to handle pressure or critcism. We'll never win the Super Bowl with him and nobody is going to beat the Pats this year anyway so might as well throw him over the side while he's still worth something. I wouldn't be surprised if he fakes an injury after losing to Detroit next week. Psychologically he's finished.

ANyone notice, after every loss, Reid says the same thing??...."I have to do a better job"..."I have to do a better job"...THEN DO A BETTER JOB!!!!!

How can MJD say that McNabb has earned the same status with Philadelphia that Favre and Manning have with Green Bay and Indy? Favre and Manning have WON Super Bowls, not thrown 3 interceptions in a losing effort. McNabb has had numerous injuries while Manning and Favre have played in more consecutive games than any other quarterbacks ever!!! What a terrible comparison. This blog has a funny McNabb obituary: http://drinkingandsports.blogspot.com/

Wow, alot of McNabb haters here. I would place the majority of the blame on management.
McNabb didn't drop the punts in Green Bay. We need a #1 receiver and they don't re-sign Stallworth. Donovan has done pretty goddamn good with what he's had to work with over the last 5 years.
I do think he's playing hurt, and not just a little bit. He is getting zero protection and zero production from his receivers. Besides the missed pass to Curtis, that last drive was pretty impressive. At least he put us in position to tie, if not eventually win.

Yeah, you're entitled to boo whoever you want.
And I'm entitled to be ashamed to be a Philly fan, when my fellow fans will boo a guy who works his ass off and has the heart and drive of Donovan McNabb.
He's earned more respect than that.

If I have to pay astronomical ticket prices and not recieve a high caliber performance from a player with a history of underachieving, you are damn right I am going to boo this professional, it's written on the back of the ticket but you have to have a magic decoding ring to unscramble the message. Sound childish???, so does all of this malarkey about how booing will psychologicaly destroy ones ego. The booing has to be pretty damn loud for this individuals ego to take a hit because he is the most egotistical professional we have had in this sports town for a long time!

First of all, I miss this site. My job now blocks it because clearly you guys are a bunch of deviants. I need to visit my own poor, neglected blog, too.
For the record, I'm interviewing elsewhere. I hope I get the job.
Second of all, I didn't need to read this complete article to know that it's crap. For all professional athletes who take booing personally: Grow UP!!! You negotiated to get paid the big bucks. Now earn it. This is the way the rest of the business world works. I know as an elite athlete, you've had your ass kissed your entire life. Good for you. But guess what? The day you decided you wanted to work in a profession where people pay to watch you work is the day you invited this sort of criticism into your life. If you can't handle it, I'm sure you can get by on whatever you majored in at college. If I get hired at this new place, I'll even consider your resume.
The funny thing is the guy that boos you on Sundays will also kiss your ass at an autograph session when he meets you in person. He's a paying customer; get over it and enjoy everything you've been given and everything you have worked for to this point and quit caring about what the fans are doing. That is the fast track to a dissatisfying career on a certain level. Ask Mike Schmidt.

Well put, Rico, and very on point.
This MJD,whoever that may be, is not living in what most would call, "the real world."
Even IF McNabb had won a Championship, he still should get booed if his play deteriorated to this level.
