Utley Set To Appear Tonight, Perform Magic, and Find a Way to Get the Phils into October
I bet a tiny part of you, before Sunday's game, was hoping the Phillies would get blown out against the Padres in the series finale. If that had happened, then we'd be free to bitch and moan about a sweep, do our best Philly fan impression, and write this team off for good. But, alas, the Phils decided to turn into the Texas Rangers Light and blow up the scoreboard.
Now into town strolls the division leading Mets for a four game stint at CBP. Not only that, but our fearless leader will return this evening to test out his wrist for the first time in the Bigs. Chase Utley is without a doubt one of the premier players in baseball but with the way Iguchi performed at second, it's almost scary to think 26 wasn't really missed. Regardless, our boy Utley is back tonight and maybe he can even find a way to plunk Milton Bradley.
We all hope Utley gives them a boost but we all also know that hitting isn't exactly the issue. Help may be on the way soon in the form of Scott Mathieson who could be in a Phillies uni around Labor Day. But will it be too late?
Also, my recommendation to Pat Gillick: send Tom Gordon on an all expense paid trip to Venezuela to hang out with Uggie Urbina. I'm not saying I want him to break out a machete or anything, but a little lock down on Flash couldn't hurt.

Anyone else watch the SD on the MLB package? This is the second series with SD I watched with the SD announcers and they talk about the actual game only about 40% of the time.
The totally missed all the Bradley stuff, except for the tauting the homeplate fans after the HR, didnt mention it once on Sunday and all they did was rag on Philly for being a "hard town for players. The color announcer admitted he had no idea who Chuck Bednarik was and they spent most of the time talking about Cheesesteaks. Unreal.
You know the Phils will do well against the Mets, thats how it works - THE BIG TEASE.
Go Chase.

Going to the game tonight with a crew of 53 people...you read that correctly. We pretty much have section 201 on lockdown, and will be tailgating hard out in the Jetro ($5) lot back by 95. I can't wait to see the Mets fans faces around us. This is gonna be awesome. We need to take 3 of 4 at minimum...
