Think Blade Runner Meets Field of Dreams
Some Monday extras:
- I hear that fat guy Rush has been picking on McNabb again. This time in criticizing Barrack O'bama who may or may not have played college ball. [Inside the Eagles and FanHouse]
- I was recently trying to tell the story about how some village in some crazy country bought an extra statue of Rocky to help build town morale, but I couldn't for the life of me remember where it was. Turns out it was in Serbia. [Sydney Morning Herald]
- Remember Tim Couch? The guy drafted ahead of McNabb? Well he tried to play football again which didn't go so hot. His wife, on the other hand, is. [FH]
- Southwest Airlines had a contest in which 50 Phillies fans won a trip to Pittsburgh to see the Phillies for the day. While a day trip to see a game in Pittsburgh is great in theory, they actually had to miss the end of the game to catch their flight back. [Courier Post]
- Jose Reyes, that boy is fast. [Mets Blog]
- At one point over the weekend, the Phillies were tied for the wild card lead. Then they were jinxed. [BS&S]
- "It's like the Yankees and Dodgers!" Come on. Any team whose name involves an energy drink should never be mentioned in the same category. Nice highlights though. I'd go see a game if given the chance. [YouTube via BH]
- Apparently Al Pacino likes cosmetic surgery? I think I watched Godfather II for the 98th time this weekend. [Some Philly.com blog]
- Proof that when you have some, you always want more: when $200,000 a day isn't enough. [WSJ]
- Tell me Andy Reid wouldn't make a perfect Santa Claus in this photo. [Yahoo!]
- Superbad was certainly worth the price of admission. Some laugh out loud funny moments during that one. During the flick, a Roots song was prominently featured. [YouTube]
- This weekend, I also did the Lights of Liberty tour and ate at both the Capital Grille, Haru, and BBQ at the parents. Delish. Killer weekend.

Enrico,
I just wrote something over at Fortress of Pillows on that story about the Rocky statue.

The damn thing looks nicer than the one on the steps of the Art Museum! I proposed we make Zitiste our sister city and offer them a swap.

Haru is the best! My girlfriend lives right down the street and we go there a lot...hence I'm poor.

I first tried Haru for Restaurant Week. It was one of the best sushi experiences ever and they did a great job on the Sake flights as well.
i think it's still the bottom of the 7th and the Phils are still giving up runs.

"Local officials have said they have contacted Philadelphia..."
Whom do you call in a situation like this? Mayor Street? Pat Croce?

Strictly speaking, we didn't HAVE to miss the end of the game to make the flight home. It was delayed 3 hours, but most of us didn't know.
