Game 4: Phils Come Out Swinging
After three dramatic wins against the Mets, the Phillies are off to a good start this afternoon at CBP. Ryan Howard crushed one to center in the bottom of the first, scoring Jimmy Rollins, who continued his tear with a leadoff double.
The sweep is in the hands of Kyle Lohse, who has been surprisingly good since that first crappy outing. Whatever happens today, I'll be glad to see the Mets fans pack up their jorts and head back to North Jersey.

Anyone watching the game to say how far Howard's homer went? On ESPN gamecast its almost the Phillies stats.
Anyone else notice the last couple of games both the phils and the Mets catchers are gving hand signals instead of fingers to call the pitches? Anyone know why?

I live in Boston and I'm listening online. Phils are hammering them early. Howard's shot an estimated 455ft. Love it.

Burrell and Rowand! Lets score some more runs seems like a hot day that the ball will just carry at CBP.

Keep pouring it on and keep pitching well and I'll be sending my playoff ticket deposit tonight.

Christ, Lohse is starting to break down. Gonna take him 90 or so pitches to get through 4 innings.

Or not get out of the 4th at all.
It's Geary time!
Posted by: pilgrim | Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 02:36 PM
pitchers need to learn how to pitch.

How is Geary still in the majors?
I'm confident that there are 6 yr olds in Cuba or something with better pitch control.

Nice got 3 back after the Mets tied it up. Good response, looks like they really want to make this a race.

Alfonseca needs to be sent to the minors. He really sucks.

Welp, Jose Mesa is in the game now, a surefire sign that we've given up...we do have some meat coming up in our half of the 8th though, let's hope Joe Table can hold them down for 1 out here and give us a Phightin' chance.

Sure is nice to have Chase back...nice to SWEEP those Mets fans out of CBP too.

Wow. Just. Wow.
I wish I was at CBP instead of work.

So glad the Richmond airport has free wireless and I was able to follow the last inning on MLB Gameday on my laptop. Go Phils!!! Good thing this ends the homestand, it's going to take a week to get the stink from those Mets fans out of CBP.

best game of the year, by far. I don't care about anyone giving up the lead, the whole game was played out exactly like our season, a total roller coaster ride where we ended on top. How can you not love this team?
I am looking forward to the flickr pictures tomorrow, keep up the good work.

Wow, I was listening to this game over the Internet at work and had to go pick the GF up at the airport. My boy Mark is keeping me posted with email updates that I fetch via Blackberry. I take the GF home, we're getting "reacquainted" at her place. I know we're down 10-8 late. We're sharing a tender moment, and I hear the phone ring. I see it's Mark's number. I answer - "SWEEP!" he yells.
I love this team, heart attacks, orgasms and all. Go Phils!

I mentioned this on Beerleaguer. If you missed seeing the game and want to know exactly how exciting, draining, disappointing, uplifting, etc. it was, go to Phillies.com, watch the replay of Utley's single, and listen to Harry's call, and Wheels and Sarge in the background. They're no different than us! What an unbelievable game.

By the way, did anyone catch this article in the NY Post? This guy wrote this article on Aug. 26th:

@ Panda: I think I have watched that replay about 20 times already. Their reaction after Utley's single is almost as good as when they start cheering for the interference call the night before. They might not be the best in the booth, but they really are fans of the team and that makes them a little more tolerable.

That was the most unbelievable game i have ever watched/heard. And how big the win was. simply unbelievable. But who honestly thought that this could happen. and if they can keep this up. Knowing the phils theyll get sewpt by the marlins and fall back to where they were before. BUt you gotta lvoe em.

I caught that too, and the thing that I found so charming about that little outburst is that Greg Dobbs is SO BORING in his interviews!

This is probably the climax of their season, but it will only get better!
