The Mustache Ride Is Over
In a shocking end to the brilliant run of one of the greatest catchers of the past decade, Sal Fasano's career went black on Wednesday. Fans of the 'stache don't have any idea what will happen next. Will he be back in the bigs in a week? Was his career whacked, never to show fans his manly 'stache ever again? Or worst case scenario, could Sal end up playing in the New Hampshire League eating "Johnny Cakes"? It's all a big mystery to the loyal group known as Sal's Pal's who have been following closely along with every move the catcher made.
One loyal member of Sal's Pals who has been following along since the early years was rather upset. Ralph from 10th and Tasker wanted more, "That's no way for one of the all time greats to go out. I don't even know what to think. I'm canceling my MLB package for sure."
Many fans will remember the early days, but it was the Philadelphia season and his trip up to the New York crew that will forever cement Sal Fasano among the all time greats.
Wherever you may land, Sal, we'll always remember the good times. Some will win, some will lose. Some were born to sing the blues. And some were born with glorious mustaches. Thanks, Sal.

Yo bring Sally back to Philly. Just swap Barajas out for him. Sal won't hit any worse than Barajas and he actually has a pair which allows him to block the plate.

*"quit," not "quick"

I think I saw Gregg Zaun leave the dugout wearing a Members Only jacket.

It's amazing how quickly people here in Toronto took a shine to Sal. He's obviously one hell of a human being. I don't think he's going to go out like this, and we're all crossing our fingers that he'll be back with the Jays sooner or later, and (sorry) not grabbed from waivers and taken from us. If this really is the end, he's certain to be coaching in the not too distant future. I don't think the stache is in danger of disappearing from a dugout somewhere just yet.
Thanks for the link to our site. Great blog. We'll put you in our links section.

Comment Jack: I just heard a *rumor* that Brian Westbrook was in a motorocycle accident and is in the hospital. Has anyone heard anything that proves or denies this rumor?

A sad day indeed for baseball. Sal Fasano was a gentleman, scholar, and great benefactor of pizza. I hope he finds another gig somewhere else in baseball. We need him now more than ever.

Enrique,
I haven't seen anything yet confirming that rumor, but ESPN reports that Daunte Culpepper bruised his hand in an auto accident.

i just heard this, and it is not a rumor, Enrique's mom gives good head.

Sid - what's your source? My Mom knows nothing of the accident... Any clue how hurt he is?
Posted by: Enrique | Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 04:27 PM
all i am saying is if you want to start bull shit rumors about the eagles, you picked the wrong place!

Really sad. he doesn't get enough credit.

The only news out there regarding Westbrook is how his brother was signed by the Skins. If this were true it'd be all over the news.

Actually Sid, I couldn't agree more, that's why I didn't say something like "I SAW WESTBROOK'S MOTORCYCLE GET CRUSHED UNDER A 747 THAT HAD TO CRASH-LAND ON 95!" Instead, I said I heard it was a rumor, has anyone heard anything, period. No reason to be a dick about it. Clearly it was just a rumor since no one has heard anything... I'd write something about your Mom back, but it's been a long time since 5th grade when Mom jokes were remotely funny.

Sal is the best, Yankee stadium adored Sal instantly last year. He'll be back. That fu-man chu he had going this year was absolutely indestructable.
SAL, you're like a cat behind the plate, we love ya!
