Willie Green Scored 37 Points Last Night

How 'bout them Fightin Phils.  I'm sick of talking about them.  They lost again last night.  Myers came out of the 'pen, it didn't matter.  Loss to the Nats.

D.C. Sports Bog had some fun before the game with Charlie Manuel and thinks the Phillies would be a great team to blog about.  He must not watch too many of their games.  They're painful.

There are some great Charlie Manuel quotes and Agent Steinz seems to have transcribed Cholly more accurately than most of the papers usually do.  My favorite:

"When I first started as a manager in this game I used to grab guys, I'd slam them on the wall," he said. "Really. I mean, that was no problem. I had no problem doing that. And you know, like, I'm older now and things like that, I'm 63 years old, but at the same time, you know, like, I've still got that same passion, I've still got that same fire....People don't know me and they don't take the time to know me. They see me around the ballpark and they kind of look at, 'Well, there's Goodtime Charlie,' or you know, like, 'Take-it-Easy Charlie,' 'Laidback Charlie,' 'Uncle Charlie,' 'Grand-pa Charlie,' whatever."

Go read the rest of his post to find out what the difference between 'Uncle Charlie' and 'Grand-pa Charlie' is.

But hey Philly fans, the Sixers won their season finale!  Willie Green scored 37 points.  Remember when we thought the Sixers had a GREAT chance of getting Greg Oden?  Now it stands at less than 1%.

anyone got an over/under for days/losses till a we get a new skipper?

I was at the game, and despite the rally to tie it up, you never felt like the team was going to put a run in during the extra innings. No fire, the big guys looked out of it, RyHow pulled up lame everytime he ran to 1st. The only guys who did something were The Bourn Identity, Dobbs, Rowand, Hell even Cole Hamels drew a walk as a PH. Two good throws by Burrell kept runners at 3rd when they could have scored, and Bourn had a good one too. But otherwise, the team looked dead, esp. Rollins and Victorino. Pathetic loss.

The Phillies have left 131 runners on base in 13 games this season, the highest total for any big-league team over its first 13 games since the Tigers stranded 132 runners in their first 13 games back in 1970.

Grand-pa Charlie is jovial, Uncle Charlie gives you the "bad touch"

Is it still "bad touch" if it feels good?

Ok, it is not even fun for Met fans to post on this board, if the Phils lose 2 out of 3 to the Nats does Manuel get the dreaded vote of confidence from Gillick and the owners? It is April 19 and if Howard is hurt this team might be done already. If a team can't win two in a row when are they going to put a streak of 8-2 together? Moving Myers is a panic move, Lieber is not the answer. I think that once again the Mets and Phils will fail to spark any real rivalry.
