Jimmy Rollins is Simply On Fire
It was a perfect night for baseball in South Philly last night. The Phillies honored the great Jackie Robinson and Jimmy Rollins put on a show. 4 hits, 4 runs, 2 RBIs, and his league leading 7th HR. Chase Utley added a BOMB that landed near by us in Ashburn Alley but not too close.
All game long the fans were having some fun with Astros left fielder Carlos Lee, chanting "You Suck Carlos" over and over and over. Carlos seemed to get a kick out of it. Anyone know any back story to this? As you may have realized from the 'Stros games here a few weeks back, Carlos does not in fact suck.
CBP Notes: I think I had three too many dollar dogs. By far the best purchase of the night: ice cream sundae in a helmet.
>>Rollins falls a double shy of cycle, leads Phils past Astros [ESPN]
Video of fans having some fun with Carlos Lee and a crappy video of Utley's trot around the bases below. You can even see the fans giving Carlos a bit of a... message after Chase's bomb as well.

good to see the hitting coming along....eaton wasnt great but he did enough to win

We were getting on Luke Scott pretty hard in right field too. He went 1-4 with 3 K's and 2 of them were looking, so we kept giving him a hard time about his batting average being like .210 and stuff and then he kept turning around and telling us that God loves us or something. Then things went all down hill when a kid decided to throw a hot dog and him and Luke stopped the game till the kid got kicked out.
I'd also like to send a big f.u. to the guy in front of my who knock Jrolls homer away from me. The ball was coming right into my hands then this guy knocked decided to throw his hand up and screw everything up.

Jimmy Rollins is and has been playing like his statement of "the Phillies are the team to beat in the NL East". Glad to see his boys are finally joining him in his effort to win.

That game last night gave me a new splinter of hope for a turnaround. I am not letting anyone off the hook, and Howard looks straight up frustrated, but you have to hope that hot weather just makes us a better team and that it could be a nice summer

I'd like to take this opportunity to call Party Foul on Enrico for leaving with the beer in his trunk. I've never seen a more empty parking spot then the one we were all scratching our heads in after the game.
Bonus points go to Goot and Walklett for the funnel cake fight, and definitely to Mark for driving (reallllly fast).

is it just me, or did howard turn into a pull hitter? when was the last time you've seen him drop the barrel on an outside pitch and slap a ball away? he's hitting outside pitches to center field now.

Phillies fans have been giving Carlos Lee a hard time for a while now. I remember being at Phils/Brewers game where they were on him. I think they do it because he always has acknowledged them when they do it from his Brewer days til now.

Great time at the game last night, couldn't really ask for more... great weather, good hitting, and dollar dogs. Well, a few beers after the game would've been nice, I guess Enrico had to rush home to get this post up.

I left in the top of the 9th to beat traffic. I stand by my move and laugh at all of you who were left beerless. Put your cooler in your own ride next time, geniuses.

It took us a little while to get to it, but today The 700 Level is featured on the all-new BaseballNooz. Look for it in “Blog Spotlight.” It's great to see the Phillies' bats finally come to life. It's too good of a lineup to give the Mets and Braves a run for their money. Look for The 700 Level posts daily in BaseballNooz’s BlogJam “river of blogs.” Sign up and get your own team trackers, player trackers and custom start page. Keep up the good work, Enrico.

What a great game, it was great to be there and watch the Phils throw up all kinds of runs. When Biggio hit that homer on Eaton's first pitch, I was already feeling restless, but once J-Roll answered with a lead off homer of his own to get the run back I was really starting to feel the win coming, and the Phils pitching was good after the 3rd even though it seemed like everyone had a good read on Eaton's pitches. Let's knock off a sweep of the Gnats and get in this NL East Race!

I don't have any personal history against Carlos(Other than the grand slam) but when we got there we just decided to go at him(as we do EVERY left fielder). The 1st inning my friends(The Fightin, Mikey) just kept telling him he sucked and then around the 5th inning my friend Mikey started the "You suck Carlos" chant and it just TOOK OFF! Big ups to everyone in that left field section.
