2007 Phillies And Their Musical Tastes (YouTube)

Today we bring you the Phillies 2007 opening day lineup and the music they choose to come to the plate hearing.  If you know why any of the Phillies chose the entrance music they use, feel free to explain in the comments.  We were going to provide free downloads of all the mp3s but we figured Mark Cuban wouldn't like that so we went with YouTube instead.  There are only a few keys to an intro song; it must be high energy and get the batter pumped up and/or get the crowd into it.

1.) Jimmy Rollins starts things off with a little Mobb Deep. Got it Twisted, I believe is the song Jimmy uses. Nothing special about this selection.  It neither pumps you up nor has a good beat.  I think J-Roll could have chosen better to start things off.

2.) Shane Victorino goes with Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldier.  Shane is from Hawaii.  Hawaii is an island.  Bob Marley is from Jamaica.  Jamaica is also and island.  I'm guessing there is some significance to this song for Shane, but I can't put my finger on it.

3.) Ryan Howard changed his tune this year.  After an MVP season, what other song would work than This is Why I'm Hot by Mims  The Big Guy is ballin.

4.) Chase Utley goes with the all American male choice and Led Zeppelin's Kashmir.  Utley does no wrong.

5.) Pat Burrell has left Dio's Holy Diver in his past.  Instead, Pat feels like getting testy with the fans of Philadelphia going with Don Henley's Dirty Laundry.  It's perfect: "Kick 'em when their up, kick 'em when their down."  Pat, I will never boo you ever again.. for at least two plate appearances.  The Bat is smarter than he looks!

6.) New guy in town Wes Helms comes out to Marilyn Manson's The Beautiful People.  While not my cup of tea, it certainly should get you in the mindset to bash homers.

7.) Aaron Rowand... we're not sure.  I did a quick Google and came up with Linkin Park's Numb but can't confirm it.  Anyone?

8.) Rob Barajas... I got nothing. We've only had one game to figure it out and let's face it, you don't remember much from opening day let alone the song Rob Barajas came out to.  Some help?

9.) Closing things out is Flash Gordon and Queen.  Where's Metallica when you need them?

Personally, I'd go with a little Ram Jam Black Betty or maybe some Roots Here I Come.  And you?

For some reason I think I remember Rowand coming out to that Fort Minor song when I was at saturdays game. I don't know the name of it, but I'm pretty sure thats what it was. In other years it was Numb by Linkin Park I think

To heck with their actual choices. Here is what they should have chosen- http://pabaseball.blogspot.com/2007/04/theme-songs.html

I'd go with

or

or maybe

but that last video kinda scares me.

I wonder if Howard has seen this:

Hysterical.

Juanos' music when he enters the game from the bullpen would be Radiohead's 'National Anthem'. The message is simple. Get on your feet and show some respect.

Pat Pat Pat... how could you dump "Holy Diver"?? that was one of my favorite parts of going to Phillies games. and to replace it with Don Henley? maybe he's getting soft in these days of marriage.

You mean nobody in Philadelphia is using anything by the Roots? No DO YOU WANT MORE? No THOUGHT AT WORK? Horrible.

Is it okay if I miss Bobby Abreu's Random Salsa Music? And I understand that if Urbina comes back, he's going with "Light My Fire".

Rowand when he was with the White Sox did come out to Lincoln Park's Numb.

I'm with Dan, definitely going to miss Holy Diver.

Oh, that's fantastic. I pretty much always think of Chase Utley whenever I hear Kashmir anyway.

Has J-Roll ever bothered using his rap song "Wish List" from that MLB charities album a few years ago as an at-bat song? That'd be awesome.

If it matters, when Greg Dobbs was first called up in Seattle, he used "Da Da Da" by Trio as his at-bat music and the scoreboard would display "Dobbs Dobbs Dobbs". Somehow I don't think that was actually HIS choice though. What did he use when he got a PH appearance during Opening Day?

A-row uses "Nobody's listning" by linkin park...makes perfect sense because he asked for padding in CF and noone listened and he bashed his face..then utley wasnt listning when rowand was calling him off to get the ball and he promptly broke his leg.
