McNabb to Detroit for Brady Quinn
Rumblings over in the city of Detroit are calling for the Lions to inquire about the chances the Eagles would move McNabb for the second pick in the draft. They presume the Eagles would give Brady Quinn a chance.
But the truth is, Quinn won't bring back any of the people who've given up on this team. At least not until he proves he's more than just another Joey Harrington.
Donovan McNabb lining up under center in next season's opener is a different story.
A story that would make the Lions interesting again, that would get people talking again, one certainly worth making a phone call in hope of.
It's an interesting thought, but one the Eagles will likely brush off. Personally, I'm not a fan of Brady Quinn. Gary Cobb has Quinn ranked as the fifth best QB in this year's draft. The only people in Philadelphia who would welcome Quinn over McNabb would likely be the Notre Dame band wagoners, my girlfriend, and Woody's bar.
McNabb for the 2nd pick in this years draft, would you do it?

Sounds too good to be true for the Birds. Brady Quinn has run a pro style offense for the past 2 years with little help from his o-line. He has a chance of being a really good NFL QB, plus he is 8 years younger than McNabb. Plus, we get rid of the McNabb problem.

Eagles fans would hate if we did the trade and Eagles fans are going to hate if McNabb is the starting QB next year. It seems like a lose lose situation for them, so who knows what Reid will do.

McNabb may not retire an Eagle (who knows?) but he will not go to the lions next year.
McNabb will lead us to a superbowl. It took Elway 14 years to win a superbowl, McNabb's only had 8... give him a few more.

McNabb isn't going anywhere. This is pure speculation and if it wasn't, trading for Quinn would set this franchise back 8 years.

There is no way this is going to happen, but...
Nothing could be better for the Eagles in terms of the long term. To trade a 30-year-old quarterback for the second pick in the draft would be huge. If you weren't satisfied that Quinn would be a great QB, you could just resign Garcia to a two-year deal and draft any number of great prospects, or even move down and grab even more picks.
That being said, I believe the Eagles have the opprtunity to win it all next year so long as they git this linebacker issue settled. If they think we can win a Super Bowl next season, and I know they do, then McNabb has to and will stay.

As long as the Browns don't have to consider St. Brady witht the 3 or 4 pick...I'm for Detroit taking him.

Seriously, there are about six or seven really good quarterbacks in the NFL. Why ditch one of them? Brady, Peyton, Palmer, Hasselback, Brees...at that point, is there anyone that makes you say, "I'd DEFINITELY rather have that guy than Donovan!" Marc Bulger? Really?

I'd have a tough time saying for sure that I'd take Brees over McNabb and I wouldn't even consider taking Hasselbeck over him. Brady Quinn is not a good QB. He's run a pro-style offense for two years? Wow, that's pretty unique. He's great! Oh, wait. McNabb came out of an option offense and was a star in his second year. Maybe being good would help Quinn more than ND's offensive schemes.

As long as McNabb is wearing an Eagles jersey, we will never win a superbowl. Period. It' sickening to hear people kiss his ass and rank him among the best. McNabb is the most Over rated Quarterback EVER. Talk about hype machine...You can say 4 NFC games and a superbowl appearance all you want...He has nothing to show for it. Don't be like the entire WIP staff and build him up into this great QB, because you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. McNabb is a piss poor leader with no heart. People diss TO, while all TO did was expose McNabb for what he is, a mediocre QB. At best.

Blast him all you want but McNabb is still a very good qb. if he played poorly or seemed unmotivated this past season, i for one expect to see that change very soon. i now anticipate watching the man play as if he has a fire lit under his ass. from Garcia's performance in his absence, Donovan know that if he shows sing of decline, the franchise has a damn good qb to replace him. look forward to seeing a new Mcnabb this 2007 season.

McNabb is soooooo bad! Sooooo overated and the worst choker in the NFL. Who throws up in a huddle because of pressure anyway? Brady Quinn is going to be a surefire hall of famer with multiple super bowl rings. I just hope it is with the eagles. This kid has the size, arm, accurace and he is very smart and he can also handle pressure unlike #5. How many of you hears of Russell beforer the sugar bowl anyway? not many cuase he aint that good. You brain dead Philly folks don't know from crap about quality QB's. I have my NFL Alum ring and years of experience to say that whom ever Cobb is, he is brain dead.
The fact is Brady Quinn is not the result of hype or false pretense. This is a quality QB. Charlie Weis did not recruit him but he did groom him to play in the NFL.
According to Weis, Quinn will be near to the top NFL QB in three short years. I have watched Quinn for 4 years. He is outstanding and will be a real asset to any team who gets him. Can you spell wins? All you detractors have seen him only one time, while running for his life in the Superdome. He still managed to throw 2 TD's under pressure and pile up a ton of yardage. Give the kid a break Philly and eat another cheesesteak.
The NFL combine will show who the real QBs are and I will laugh at Mr. Cobb and his Corn when Quinn outshines the others.

i consider myself to be a top eagles fan. one of the fans who knows the team inside and out. and for Mcnabb to be traded to detroit for the pick of Brady Quinn would cause me to disown the eagles as "my team"

Wow, there are a few really off comments here. For one, this would not be "too good to be true for the birds." In fact, that statement is ridiculous. McNabb is one of the top in the NFL, in fact, he WAS the number 1 QB before getting hurt last year. He was having an MVP year. He's taken the Eagles to four nfc championships and one superbowl. How many QBs can take their team that far year in and year out? Especially since only one year we had any decent receivers.
Also, Eagles fans will not hate it if McNabb is QB next year. That statement is utterly ridiculous.
