Terrell Owens: Confused Mouth of Mystery

If you follow the Eagles at all, and listen to Sports Radio in Philadelphia at all over the past few days, you know Terrell has been running his mouth again.  All he cares about is his family.  He wants to be able to take care of his family.  If he sits out, he does nothing but lose money.  The Eagles could take back roughly 1.8 million of his original signing bonus on top of the 200 and some Gs per game he misses.  How is that going to help his family?

There is an article in today's Daily News by Les Bowen with some quotes from T.O.'s recent charity event:

"To be honest, it's been stressful," Owens said, when asked about his offseason. "I just want to get a message out to people, and I hope they really understand what I'm about to say, because, before there was football, there was my family. It doesn't really matter what anyone says about me critically, whether it's coaches, the media, teammates who I thought were my friends, it doesn't really matter. Because I can leave this game right now.

Ok, Terrell, leave this game right now.. then how the hell are you going to take care of your family?  Is he really that ignorant?  He lost me on this whole situation.  I don't understand what he is talking about.  And why is he attacking teammates again?

They won't care about me. At the end of the day, these are the people that I love. These are the people that are going to be there for me. So it doesn't really matter. I don't have to play for the Eagles.

"Anybody that I play for, I'm going to play 100 percent, I give 'em 100 percent. I gave San Francisco 100 percent. I gave the Eagles 100 percent. When I got hurt, I rehabbed 100 percent. All I'm trying to do now is just - you know, they know the situation. Just give me what I deserve. I'm one of the top players in the game. That's all I ask. And if they don't want to do that, that's fine."

The reporters never got to find out why not revising his contract would be "fine," whether the next sentence would be, "Then they can just trade me to a team that will," or, much less likely, "What the heck, I'll show up for training camp anyway and make a good-faith effort to change their mind."

Owens' main publicist, Kita Williams, cut off his answer, decreeing that the remainder of the session would be devoted to questions about the charity event.

I don't necessarily have a problem with T.O. asking for more money, I just think the logic he is using to defend himself is.. illogical.
